George Beatty Syroney, was born in Rarden, Ohio, on August 19, 1938, son of the late Rudolph Stanley Syroney and Irene Koch Syroney. He attended the Rarden High School, in Rarden, Ohio, and graduate in 1956. He than joined the U.S. Army, on June 29, 1956, and was Honoralbe Discharged on June 26, 1959.
He started working for Honda of Rarden, in Rarden, Ohio, and help start the Rarden Volunteer Fire Department in 1960, with the help of the Former Mayor James Christian, of Rarden, Ohio. He worked for Honda of Rarden, fo 32 plus years, and volunteered for the Rarden Volunteer Fire Department, as Fire Chief. And he volunteered with Scioto County Squad #2, which was a schedule certian days to run on the squad. Scioto County Squad #2, covered the following township at that time Brush Creek, Morgan, Rarden, Rush, and Union. Than volunteered for Rarden Squad #4, when Rarden Volunteer Fire Department, purchased their first squad.
He married Shirley Sue Smith, the daughter of the late Jesse and Rosella Smith, of Rarden, Ohio. And had three children, two sons and one daughter. Which I am the youngest of the three.
He was a member of the Rarden Village Council in Rarden, Ohio. And was Honorary Fire Firefighter of the Rarden Volunteer Fire Department in the the early 1990's. And was a Life-Time Member of the Gold Wing Riders Assoication.
George Beatty Syroney, suffered from Throat Cancer in the mid 1980's, and was treated with Chemotherapy, and Radiation treatment. Than in the early 1990's the doctor spotted a small spot in his lungs that was a size of a Dime. He was off work for about 2 years suffering from the Lung Cancer. Hospice was a great help with all that he needed, he was on oxygen, and had a nurse that would come out once or twice a week to check up on him. We had Old Log Cabin Camp Meetings just about every week with Rev. Delbert Copas, and other church members from other Churches in the Community. Than he requested to have a feeding tube put in, so we worked on getting that scheduled. He was taken in to Mercy Hospital, in Portsmouth, on November 7, 1996, to have a feeding tube put in. He passed away in the middle of the night on the morning of November 8, 1996.
